We are acutely aware of the fear surrounding the single central record checks when Ofsted visit. One of our directors was the headteacher at a school who had a graded inspection in September 2023. They have lived the experience and know what it takes to ensure the conversation goes completely smoothly (setting the tone for a successful inspection).

We conduct a thorough manual audit of your Single Central Record (SCR), identifying any missing information and informing you of the incomplete checks. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive written explanation of our findings and share best practice guidance.

How does it work?

Our process involves four simple steps:

  1. Securely send us your current SCR data in an Excel spreadsheet.
  2. We conduct your single central record check.
  3. We return your SCR with a detailed written audit.
  4. Your SCR is now prepared for Ofsted/ISI inspection.

Your Statutory Duty

According to the School Staffing Regulations (2009), all schools and colleges are required to maintain a SCR, which should demonstrate the suitability of relevant staff and individuals who work in regular contact with children, including vetted volunteers.

Schools and colleges must maintain a single central record of pre-appointment checks, referred to in the Regulations as “the register” and more commonly known as “the single central record”. The SCR should contain records of safer recruitment checks and details of all staff, including supply staff, teacher trainees on salaried routes, members of the proprietor body for independent schools (including academies and free schools), and members and trustees of the academy, as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024).

Pricing

  • £350 for half a day of remote or in-person support with the SCR document itself including a written report.
  • £595 for a full day SCR including sample personnel file checks and a written report.

The amount of time an SCR check takes will depend on the volume of data. After an initial consultation call, we will be able to advise the exact cost for your school. An average primary school would normally take between half a day and a day. Small schools may take even less time which would be reflected int he price. This is a small price for immeasurable peace of mind.
