Our Rocks VR Workshops take pupils on a geological adventure through the incredible rock cycle, experiencing the heat, pressure, and power that shape our planet. Designed for primary science, these immersive sessions bring geology to life in a way textbooks and rock sample kits cannot.

Witness the Rock Cycle in Action
During our Rocks VR Workshops, pupils begin with explosive volcanic eruptions, watching molten lava cool and harden into igneous rock as new land forms before their eyes. They then follow the journey of eroded rock fragments as they are transported, deposited, and compressed over time into layered sedimentary formations. These are geological processes that span millions of years, made vivid and immediate through stunning 360° virtual reality footage.
From Sedimentary Secrets to Metamorphic Marvels
Pupils discover how intense heat and pressure deep within the Earth transform existing rocks into metamorphic structures, completing their understanding of the full rock cycle. Along the way, they see how different rock types shape the landscapes around us, from waterfalls carved by sedimentary rock to dramatic valleys formed over geological time. This is not your ordinary rocks lesson. It is a geological adventure that pupils will talk about long after the headsets come off.
Rock Detective Skills
A key element of our Rocks VR Workshops is developing pupils’ ability to identify and classify rocks by their properties and origins. By the end of the session, pupils are not just aware of rock types, they understand how and why they form, giving them a solid foundation for further scientific enquiry.
Curriculum-Aligned Science for KS2
Our Rocks VR Workshops are fully aligned to the National Curriculum objective of comparing and grouping different types of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties. For the price of a single class trip, we can bring this experience to your whole school in one day.
