Our VR days are more than an exciting enrichment experience. They are exceptional lessons taught by a qualified teacher, leader and headteacher with 13 years of experience. Our pedagogical approach captures pupils’ imaginations, allowing them to fully immerse themselves. The VR headsets are a game-changing innovation that look set to form part of the educational landscape of the future.

Pre Visit Information

Timings

Our VR days typically include between 4-6 classes, with workshops lasting 40-55 minutes each.

Topics

Each class can choose a different workshop to match their topic or a whole-school theme

Headsets

We bring in 16 VR headsets and we recommend pupils sharing one between two.

Workshop

Every workshop is taught by Justin to ensure the day runs smoothly.

For photosensitive pupils, or those with sensory needs, we provide a follow-along tablet. This means that all pupils can see and explore the same 360-degree immersive worlds: our sessions are completely inclusive.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will pupils see in the VR sessions?

Our VR content is either real 4K footage or photorealistic CGI. Most importantly, our historical images and videos are factually and historically accurate. We work with archaeologists who survey ancient sites and lead teams of 3D modellers to recreate them with precision. It’s the difference between a cartoon‑style image of Ancient Greece and a high‑quality primary or secondary source—there’s no comparison.

How is a typical workshop structured?

Pupils work in pairs, sharing a VR headset and rotating between viewing and completing tasks. Each lesson is supported by carefully curated activities, created in partnership with leading task‑design experts. Sessions are delivered in short, structured episodes so pupils learn in manageable steps, combining rigour with the excitement of immersive learning.

What makes EduPeopleVR different to other providers?

We are qualified, experienced and successful primary school teachers with a combined 25 years of classroom experience across the full primary age range. Between our directors, we also bring 20 years of senior leadership, including five years in headship—so you are in very safe hands. This expertise is reflected in our 5‑Star Google rating: 100% of schools we’ve worked with would recommend us.

Can we cover different subjects on the same day?

Yes. We can deliver up to six topics in a single day. Because we design and build all of our sessions from scratch, this does not affect the transition time between sessions.

How many sessions can we book in a day?

We offer half‑day or full‑day workshops. We have worked with schools up to four‑form entry and provide discounts for multiple‑day bookings. We also work with several MATs and offer reduced rates when three or more schools within the trust book together.

Are there any safety measures in place?

Yes. We encourage regular screen breaks and ask to be informed of any photosensitivity, epilepsy or health concerns before our visit.

Will pupils be moving around during the VR experience?

No. Pupils remain seated throughout the session to ensure safety and focus.

Do we need to provide internet connectivity?

No. We are completely self‑contained and do not require access to your school’s internet. We bring everything with us—simply bring your class and enjoy the experience.

What happens if a headset gets damaged?

In the rare event of deliberate damage, we may charge for replacement. However, even in alternative provisions, special schools and settings with high levels of challenging behaviour, pupils have always treated the equipment with care and respect.

What are the space requirements for the VR workshop?

A classroom is ideal, but we can adapt to other spaces such as school halls. Proper seating and tables are essential. Our facilitator also requires access to a laptop/PC and screen to share our supporting slide decks.

What Does the Research Say About VR?

A meta analysis from 2022 provides a clear insight into the benefits of using VR as a teaching to enhance the delivery of your curriculum:

“VR technology activates learners’ visual and motor channels, providing them with a sense of immersion, leading to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the instructional content. This stimulation enhances learners’ interest and motivation, resulting in greater engagement in learning activities.” Huang et al., 2021; Li & Xue, 2023

Reading about topics in high-quality texts is an incredibly powerful and inspiring teaching tool, but it can make understanding and conceptualising abstract content challenging. Immersive technology, such as VR, brings students closer to their subjects, enhancing their understanding, engagement, and long-term retention.

Further Benefits of Using VR

Whilst VR is in its infancy in the education sector, it’s something our pupils will need to use regularly as a learning tool in their education and careers in the very near future. The World Economic Forum’s second most important skill for 2025 is ‘Active Learning and Learning Strategies.’ This self regulation skill was not present in previous years and has risen meteorically because of the rapidly changing digital age in which our learners find themselves.
